Case Study - Mise En Scene

What mood or atmosphere is created? The flash must save a group of babies falling from a hospital, which is scary at first, but he saves the babies in a fun way. For example, he first used a microwave for his burrito and then used the microwave to protect one of the babies. The lighting is bright and clear, like an actual hospital and colors are mostly white and blue, The Flash's red suit stands out since is red, so people spot the hero easily.

Barry, which is The Flash's name, looks stressed and rushed. His facial expressions are like wide eyes and a nervous look; it shows that he is trying his best. His body language is fast and ready to help. The babies are also wearing soft colored clothes, and the therapy dog floats calmly, adding humor to the scene.

We can feel worried for the babies but also Barry helps our anxiety flows down because he is saving all of the babies in a funny humorous style. You may see in the scene that he might be clumsy but caring by the way he is handling the situation. The props like the burrito and the microwave, add comedy while there is a disaster in the background.

The location is in and out of a hospital room full of falling medical tools and broken glass. This scene can show the danger and chaos. The Flash's sweaty make-up and tired facial expression shows that he has been trying his best to help the babies and the people in need.

Denotation: The hospital collapsing, babies falling, Barry saving their lives in a funny way.

Connotation: Being a Hero isn't perfect, it could be messy, weird, and full of surprises like his reaction time.
